A solar array is designed to produce for decades. An asphalt shingle roof has a much shorter life, and if it's already halfway through it, the two schedules don't line up.
When a roof under panels needs replacing, the panels have to come off first, get stored, and go back up afterward. That's labor you pay for on top of the new roof.
Before we design any solar system, we get on the roof and check the shingles, flashing, and decking. We photograph what we find, so you can see it too.
If the roof has plenty of life left, we move ahead with solar. If it doesn't, we can handle the roof work and the solar installation in the right order, under one quote and one point of contact.
Either way, the inspection is part of our free project analysis.
